If elected your next County Mayor
these will be my priorities:
Jobs: Work with our business community to keep what we have and do all we can to attract new industry and employers.
Schools/Education: Attracting new industry requires we are prepared. I will support local educators' ongoing efforts to meet the needs of our students, and improve our school system.
Total Transparency In Government: We need to rebuild trust in government through open communication and open access between those we elect and all citizens.
Financial Accountability: Update and professionalize our accounting methods. I favor a move to a centralized purchasing so we have better insight and control into how YOUR tax dollars are being used.
Digitize County Records: For simple, easy access to our records by citizens and professionals, and to reduce the long term expense of storage
A Community Multi-resource Center: For years there's been talk about a center without results. It is time the county government listen to citizens and support this effort.
Landfill/Recycling: Restrict out-of-county waste and do a better job monitoring what enters our landfill. We need a serious recycling program to get the most out of our landfill.
Revitalize Our Business Districts: Bring our elected officials, business, civic and church leaders together to come up with comprehensive plans for all corners of our county.
Support Public Safety Personnel: Ensure our law, fire and emergency response personnel have all the resources they need to protect us.
2010 Candidate
DeKalb County Mayor
An Open Letter To All Citizens
of DeKalb County
My name is Bob Snyder and I am soliciting your vote and influence for the office of DeKalb County Mayor.
After growing up in Michigan, I moved to DeKalb County 35 years ago and it has been home ever since. I have experience as a lifelong small business owner and farmer who has managed employees, balanced budgets, and met fiscal challenges head on.
My wife Denise and I live on Lower Helton in Alexandria. We have worked with the youth of the community from the time the oldest of our seven children, now 34, was very young.
For the past 10 years, we’ve also worked with the poor in the rural mountains of Haiti. There, I’ve seen all that’s possible when a community works together, no matter what the challenge.
If elected county mayor, I realize my success will depend on active participation and support from all citizens. So, I want to hear about your concerns, your dreams for our county. How can we work together to improve DeKalb County?
